Forgotten World Adventures offers exclusive guided experiences through one of the most beautiful and remote locations in New Zealand. Travel along an abandoned railway line by rail cart & enjoy a front row seat into our country's pioneering history.
All FWA experiences feature an iconic self-driven rail cart journey on the 142km long historic Stratford-Okahukura Line (SOL). The Republic is our iconic full-day guided rail cart adventure to the unique, self-proclaimed Republic of Whangamōmona. Journey 82km along the line through breathtaking scenery and 20 hand-built tunnels. Traverse impressive hand-made bridges and pass through the forgotten townships of Matiere, Ohura, Tokirima, Haeo and Tangarakau before pulling into Whangamōmona. Includes: Rail-side food and drinks and transfers. Optional extras: Accommodation at the historic Whangamōmona Hotel and/or Forgotten World Motel, next day transfer, vehicle shift. Departs: 7.30am from Taumarunui. Direction can be reversed.
