The Ruapehu Art Awards are open to the public during the upcoming school holidays, from 18th to 30th September.

Held every second year, the last Awards showcased over 300 entries from artists across Aotearoa. This vibrant art show is a fun, family-friendly feast for the eyes—perfect for days when Mount Ruapehu is closed, or a welcome stop en route to other destinations.

You'll find it just past the main shops in Taumarunui, at 153 Hakiaha Street, State Highway 4, inside the War Memorial Hall.

Taumarunui and the Ruapehu Art Awards are just one hour’s drive from Te Kuiti and Waitomo, and also one hour from Ohakune at the foot of Mt Ruapehu's ski fields—making it a perfect cultural stop for those on a winter skiing or snowboarding holiday.
