Waimarino Art Awards

Royal Theatre, Seddon St, Raetihi | 27 Sep - 02 Oct 26

Celebrating creativity in the heart of Ruapehu, the Waimarino Art Awards showcase an inspiring collection of works from local and visiting artists across a range of mediums, including painting, sculpture, ceramics, glass, textiles, carving, weaving, and more.

Waimarino Art Awards have run annually for many years now, coordinated by a series of dedicated art-lovers in the twin towns of Raetihi and Ohakune, within the Waimarino area. The Raetihi Promotions Charitable Trust is the governing body.

The main aim of the Waimarino Art Awards is to celebrate our local artists, very few of whom are full time. Our artists and makers also welcome the work of artists from the rest of the country. It is a challenge, but heart-warming to see what people outside our area are up to.

As well as our artists, we are lucky to have sculptors, potters, glass artists, fabric artists, carvers, weavers, quilters, like the rest of New Zealand. Bi-annually, though, we put Raetihi at the centre of the universe, and show these off at the Waimarino Art Awards.

We are always grateful to our Local Sponsors, who invest in all our many social and sporting activities, not just the Art Awards

The exhibition will be open daily at the Royal Theatre, Seddon St, Raetihi:
27th September - 2nd October
11am - 2pm & 6pm - 9pm Everyday
