Peak to Keg
26 September 2026 Tūroa Ski Area & The Powderkeg
One of Ohakune's most iconic winter events, Peak to Keg combines adventure, endurance and plenty of post-race celebrations.
Now in its 30th year, this legendary multi-sport race takes competitors from the top of Tūroa Ski Area all the way to The Powderkeg at the base of Mt Ruapehu. Participants can enter individually or as part of a team of three (with at least one female team member).
Race Stages
- Ski from the top to the bottom of Tūroa Ski Area
- 4.8km downhill run on Ohakune Mountain Road
- 11.5km downhill bike ride on Ohakune Mountain Road
- 300m dash to the finish, followed by the famous beer or lemonade scull
The event wraps up with a BBQ, prizegiving and plenty of stories at The Powderkeg.
