Pure Shredders

18 July 2026 Alpine Meadow Park – Tūroa Ski Area

Pure Shredders is Tūroa's fun and friendly terrain park event for skiers and snowboarders aged 14 and under.

Held in Alpine Meadow Park, this event welcomes all ability levels—from first-time competitors to experienced young riders. The focus is on progression, creativity and having fun, with a supportive atmosphere that encourages participants to challenge themselves and build confidence on snow.

Whether you're looking to land your first trick, ride new features or simply spend the day with friends, Pure Shredders is a fantastic introduction to terrain park riding and friendly competition.

Please note: Participants require a valid day pass or season pass and must be able to ride independently, including turning, stopping and using the designated lifts within the event area.


Girls Who Shred

9 August 2026 Tūroa Ski Area

Girls Who Shred returns to Tūroa for a free girls-only community ride day focused on confidence, progression and good vibes in the terrain park.

Designed for female skiers and snowboarders of all experience levels, the day includes free park coaching, opportunities to meet other riders and plenty of time to enjoy one of New Zealand's most unique alpine playgrounds. Whether you're hitting your first feature or fine-tuning your skills, you'll be supported every step of the way.

The event runs from 10:00am–3:00pm and is free to attend.

Please note: Participants require a valid day pass or season pass. Riders must be comfortable using the Giant Chairlift and able to turn and stop independently. Riders aged 14 and over are welcome to attend, while participants aged 10–14 must have a parent or guardian present on the mountain.


Rail Jam

5 September 2026 | From 1:00pm Outside The Giant – Tūroa Ski Area

Get ready to throw down at the Tūroa Parks Rail Jam.

Backed by Red Bull, this high-energy event is all about style, execution and crowd hype. Riders will compete in an open jam format before the top performers progress through knockout heats to determine the overall winner.

Expect a live DJ, stacked prizes and plenty of action both on and off the snow. Whether you're competing or cheering from the sidelines, it's set to be one of the highlights of the season.

Helmets are compulsory.

Peak to Keg

26 September 2026 Tūroa Ski Area & The Powderkeg

One of Ohakune's most iconic winter events, Peak to Keg combines adventure, endurance and plenty of post-race celebrations.

Now in its 30th year, this legendary multi-sport race takes competitors from the top of Tūroa Ski Area all the way to The Powderkeg at the base of Mt Ruapehu. Participants can enter individually or as part of a team of three (with at least one female team member).

Race Stages

  • Ski from the top to the bottom of Tūroa Ski Area
  • 4.8km downhill run on Ohakune Mountain Road
  • 11.5km downhill bike ride on Ohakune Mountain Road
  • 300m dash to the finish, followed by the famous beer or lemonade scull

The event wraps up with a BBQ, prizegiving and plenty of stories at The Powderkeg.
