Join Project Tongariro volunteers as they walk around Lake Rotoponamu checking rodent traps and wētā hotels!

Learn about the Project Tongariro Restoration Project that has been going for 20 years! Bring your own lunch and listen to the native birds and hear how the place is being protected and future plans to reintroduce birds that once lived in this special jewel of Tongariro National Park.

The trip may be cancelled/postponed due to poor weather conditions. Other conditions for cancellation/postponement include COVID alert level changes.

PARTICIPANTS ARE ASKED TO BRING THE FOLLOWING:

  • Waterproof and warm clothing

  • Packed lunch and water/thermos drink

  • Sturdy tramping/walking shoes

  • Personal medication

  • Camera
