The Knoll Ridge Chalet on Whakapapa Ski Area is New Zealand’s highest café. If you’re not skiing or boarding, you can access the Knoll Ridge Chalet via the new Sky Waka Gondola.

This multi-storey eatery features something for everyone, from a quick grab and go snack to a brand new menu of contemporary cuisine, all overlooking the wonder that is Tongariro National Park. Travel on the Sky Waka Gondola to New Zealand’s highest dining experience, Knoll Ridge Chalet. Enjoy an incredible scenic ride over Mt Ruapehu’s striking volcanic terrain to 2,020m above sea level. Each gondola cabin allows 360-degree views through floor to ceiling windows. 

You’ll notice big changes this season to transform the visitor dining experience. Enjoy fresh and tasty local produce from our paddocks to your plates, with three new distinct dining areas Knoll Ridge Chalet will serve a variety of food from quick and tasty bites through to sit down dining to suit all tastes and budgets, overlooking the wonder that is Tongariro National Park.

Pātaka (The Larder)

Once you arrive at Knoll Ridge Chalet, enjoy a buffet meal at the new Pinnacles Restaurant (Ngā Tohu) that boasts breathtaking views looking out over the Pinnacles and the valley below. NEW buffet breakfast and dining is offered, along with an afternoon tea option while taking in the views of the Central Plateau & beyond from the award-winning highest eatery in New Zealand.

For a lighter meal or snack, you also have the option of Pātaka (The Larder) that offers fantastic barista coffee and an incredible à la carte menu offering classic New Zealand café style cuisine or the Four Peaks Alley food alley which has a selection of tasty dishes for the perfect grab-and-go meal Foodtruck style.
