Mt Ruapehu has two premier ski fields to choose from – Whakapapa and Tūroa that boast magnificent areas for skiers and snowboarders of all levels. The enviously long ski season in Ruapehu welcomes skiers and snowboarders from June to October.
Whakapapa is home to New Zealand's premiere beginners' area, Happy Valley Snow Park.
Whakapapa and Turoa together offer around 1000 ha of skiable terrain (June–October) with more than 700 metres of vertical descent through natural half pipes, bowls, chutes, drops and sweeping glaciers, accessed via state of the art lift facilities.

The Ruapehu region is located in the centre of New Zealand's North Island halfway between Auckland and Wellington - both less than 4 hours drive.
Kiwirail operates scenic rail services between Auckland and Wellington, with stops at National Park Village and Ohakune, and national bus operators offer daily services to the area. Closest airports are Taupo, Whanganui and Palmerston North.
